MGA FAQs: Who, Where, When, What, How . . . and WHY!
WHY: a part-time school, when we are experienced homeschoolers?
- So our children can have some interaction with other kids their age, enjoying the type of group learning projects . . . discussions . . . and general interaction that can occur in a class environment.
- So our children can 'drink from another well.' We all have strengths and weaknesses; we have areas of gifting, and areas where we know others are more gifted. It is a blessing to our children to learn from another trusted adult; it widens their world. It fits with the concept of Body ministry:
"For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly . . ." Rom. 12:4 6
Because some learning experiences are just BETTER in a group!
- To help new, overwhelmed, or just plain busy homeschooling moms.
- To avoid running all over the metroplex for this Science class and that History class. The core subjects will be offered in ONE place at ONE time.
- To form a learning community, as the kids form relationships with each other.
- To enjoy ALL of the above, but in a way that doesn't dominate the landscape of our lives like full-time school, with its long days, five-day schedule, 36-week calendar, and too much intrusion into family life. We want to keep our kids' group learning time in a smaller 'box', and keep family life the center of our homes.
